As part of this year’s Small Charity Week, we’re incredibly proud to share a message of support from Sir Ed Davey MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats and long-time advocate for carers.
In a letter addressed to the Young Carers Development Trust (YCDT), Sir Ed recognises the “vital work” we do in supporting young carers to reach their full potential through long-term mentoring, guidance, and community.
Through nurture, inspiration and achievement, you are able to reflect the lives of the young carers you support.
We’re particularly touched by his acknowledgment of the positive impact we’ve had on the lives of the young carers we work with, and his commitment to continuing to be a voice for carers in Parliament and beyond.
I know what a big and positive difference you make in their lives. I am pleased to support you this Small Charity Week and beyond.
At YCDT, we believe that young carers—who often shoulder adult responsibilities from an early age—deserve meaningful, tailored support to access opportunities and thrive. It means a great deal to have our work recognised at this level.

We’d like to thank Sir Ed Davey for his kind words and continued advocacy for the rights and wellbeing of young carers.
